‘The Patchwork Quilt’ is essentially a drama project that gives lots of opportunities for further writing activities. Many of the stories were created with the children and they can all be adapted to suit the needs of a particular class. The project is aimed at Key Stage One children but older pupils have also enjoyed acting out the stories and writing their own versions. These were originally performed in two groups of six stories at The Assembly Rooms in Derby.

Each of the pieces of material on the Patchwork Quilt remind Granny and Grandad of something that has happened to them. The stories lend themselves to class-size productions and take place at the circus, the seaside, a football match, on a farm and in the jungle, as well as many other settings that inspire both the pupils' acting and writing.

The stories can be performed individually, as a class assembly or 'Play in a Day' workshop, or can be grouped together to make a longer performance.

Clusters of up to 6 schools at a time can also work together over a six-week period to perform the plays at a local theatre. Please contact Paula on 07799 833876 if you would like further details about these projects.
