How Granny and Grandad Met BACK

It was a lovely sunny day when Granny and Grandad met but they didn’t meet in the usual way. Grandad ran Granny over with his bike! Granny was so upset that she began to cry. Grandad asked her if she wanted a cup of tea and a piece of cake.

They soon became friends. On sunny days they would go for a picnic in the park and on cold days they would go ice-skating. Sometimes they would get dressed up and go dancing and if they went to see a scary film, Granny would hide behind Grandad. Exactly a year later, they were walking home when they got to the zebra crossing where Grandad had knocked Granny over. Suddenly Grandad stopped. He asked Granny to marry him but she said no – she wanted him to kneel down and do it properly. Grandad explained that he couldn’t kneel down in the middle of the road in case he got run over but Granny didn’t care. And so began a big argument. It was not very romantic at all!

Meanwhile, the traffic was starting to build up. There were three pretty girls on their way to a birthday party…and the vicar was trying to get to the church on his bike. There was a bus full of old ladies going to play bingo…and an ice-cream man on his way to the park. On the other side of the road there was a farmer with a truck full of pigs…and a postman trying to deliver his letters.

There was even a very important singer on his way to a concert! Everybody was starting to get very cross with Granny and Grandad for stopping the traffic. At last Grandad decided to kneel down and Granny finally said yes.

Everybody was invited to the wedding. The pretty girls were the bridesmaids, the postman delivered lots of presents, they ate ice-cream at the party… and Elvis Presley even sang a song for them! And as for the farmer and his truck full of pigs? Well, they gave Granny and Grandad a lift as they set off on their honeymoon!
